Past Due Tax Returns – Protecting Your Social Security Benefits

When you are self-employed and don’t file your federal income tax return, the self-employment income that you earned will not be reported to the Social Security Administration.  This means that you will not receive credit for this income which is credited toward Social Security retirement or disability benefits.
